It depends how strong you want your tincture. The more alcohol you use for extraction, the smaller amounts of cannabinoids you will get in the finished product. For instance, some people take the raw material and put it in a jar and pour in the alcohol up above the raw material. On the other hand if you want a strong tincture you can pour in the alcohol so that it only covers 1/2 the raw material and work the material into the alcohol. This way you will get a strong tincture. The only way to tell is to have it tested to find out the cannabinoid/terpene levels.
