“I would like to get a medical marijuana card but I’m not 18 years old.”
If you are in the state of California you need to be at least 18 years old to get a medical marijuana card. You will need to provide proof in the form of government ID and then also have a legitimate medical condition which your doctor will discuss with you during your consultation. If you are a minor, meaning under the age of 18, then you can apply with your parent’s consent but you will in most cases need to show medical records and evidence that cannabis is the best treatment path for you. A great for instance is a child with epilepsy. In this instance, the parent is in the consultation with the minor and will be the one to buy and administer the medication.
The laws vary state by state.
Unfortunately we do not serve minors at HelloMD (even with parental consent). You will need to take him to an in-person doctor.
You can get one as a minor, so long as you have your parents (and doctors) consent. However, you cannot do this through HelloMD.
We do not serve people under the age of 18.
Our service is restricted to patients 18 years of age or older; however, any doctor with a valid CA medical license can write a medical marijuana recommendation. You may want to check in with your primary care provider to see if they will write a recommendation, or if they can refer you to someone who is willing to write one for someone under the age of 18.
