I've had this issue for a long time and tried all sorts of medications, but nothing proves all that effective. I also watch what I eat and drink. I've been to the doctor several times and he's ruled out any more serious stuff.

There are some studies that indicate that some forms of medical cannabis can interact with the endogenous cannabinoid system to reduce and help problems such as the gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Most acid reflux problems comes from a low production of hydrochloric acid, or achlorhydria, thus by altering your stomach pH. After a chain of events you can feel the burning and discomfort upon reaching your esophagus.
As an alternative and healthy method, you should avoid high-sugar foods, such as chocolats and candies, and try a low carb diet, which has been very effective clinically and also in some specific studies.
There are plenty other alternatives you can consider; One that i enjoy and its a common method of supplementing for low stomach acid, is the Betaine Hydrochloride, or Betaine HCL supplement. It will improve your digestion, and it will help with your reflux.
Also consider taking a blood test for vitamin b12, since acid reflux problems tends to disturb B12 absorption, and drugs like Nexium, supress your stomach acid secretion, causing then a B12 deficiency.
You should consider visiting an specialist.
Hope this helps!
