IBS mixed type symptoms, GERD and cannabis management?

by HelloMD

I have GERD, as well as lifelong IBS mixed type symptoms, in addition to anxiety and depression. I had an emergency cholecystectomy due to rupture/infection 7 years ago, and my IBS type symptoms have increased, rather than decreased. My gastroenterologist thinks I may have a vagus nerve issue, and suggested trying CBD/whole plant extracts as "a last resort" for pain caused by all of these mixed bag issues, as he's stumped as well.\n\nI've started keeping a pain/symptom journal and have about six months of symptoms recorded daily; I've also since gotten my card, and started recording microdosages and results from that. Is there any way of better recording and managing my symptoms with CBD/CBN? Should I try any particular types of tinctures?

Cannabis may be helpful in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, because it has immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and crampy abdominal pain. Because cannabis may reduce GI motility, it may also be helpful for diarrhea.

Cannabis is also thought to be helpful for GERD, because there is evidence that cannabis decreases transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxation. It is also helpful for pain and may lessen discomfort associated with acid reflux.
