How do I renew my card with HelloMD?
Answers
Answer - HelloMD Partner Development
If you have previously had a recommendation through HelloMD, you will be notified 60 days prior to the date of expiration by email with instructions on how to renew. You will simply need to provide payment and meet with a doctor.
If it was through another service, we cannot renew your recommendation, only make our own. Because of this you will proceed as a new patient, however having had a previous recommendation will expedite your consultation with the doctor.

There are two scenarios to this answer:
Scenario 1: You have an existing HelloMD recommendation, which is up for renewal.
In this case, you will be automatically notified of the need to renew starting 60 days from expiration. Renewing is easy. Just login to your account on HelloMD, and you will see the 'Talk to a Doctor' button at the top has changed to 'Renew my card'. Click this button and follow the simple steps to renew, which will include talking to one of our doctors again. All your previous medical records will be maintained and available to you and the doctor. You will have the opportunity to discuss your condition with the doctor and get fully updated.
Scenario 2: You have a recommendation from a (non HelloMD doctor) which is up for renewal.
In this case, we consider you the same as a new patient, since we don't yet have a case for your medical file. The process to renew your card is the same as a new patient, but takes no longer than 20 - 30 minutes including the doctors consultation. Be sure to tell the doctor that you had a previous recommendation, and you are renewing it as this can speed the medical consultation. If you have the previous doctors recommendation available, you can show it to the doctor during the consult, although this is not a requirement.
Under both scenarios, we charge the same price for renewal and new patients.

Yes, you can get your medical card renewed on line in California. You must be within the state in order to get it renewed with HelloMD as our doctors are licensed in California and Telehealth for medical marijuana is legal within the state.
Register with HelloMD, fill in your medical case, upload some photos and then pay. You can see a doctor every day between the hours of 10-7 and once you pay you will be placed within our queue and the doctor will see you shortly! Our holiday hours are slightly different so I would suggest going today!

Answer - Doctor Sharon Olson
It may take up to 10 to 15 minutes once you have been authorized for a renewal for you to obtain your recommendation but the unpredictable wait time occurs in the waiting room because sometimes our waiting room is almost empty and other times it can be packed with people waiting for their interview with the doctor. It is good to try to be the first person on at 10 AMBut please don't be the last person at night or you may get bumped to the next day if our waiting room has too many clients waiting. We want to be fast with the interview but we really want you to know how to use your medication to your optimum benefit and we want to answer your questions.

The cost of a new recommendation or a renewal is $59. If you previously received your card through HelloMD, click 'renew my card' while logged into your account to begin. If your card was from another provider, please click "talk to a doctor" to get started.
If you have an iPhone, you can download the HelloMD app for free from the App Store. Once you register, you'll fill out some basic information, a complete health questionnaire, upload a photo of yourself (for your ID card), a photo of your state-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or identity card to verify your identity), and finally, pay the $59 fee via Visa, MasterCard or Discover. You'll then be prompted to join our virtual waiting room where you will be greeted by one of our friendly and informative customer support representatives; they will ensure that your video and audio are working well, and answer any questions you have before meeting with the doctor. Once you have your consultation with the doctor, if you are approved, your letter of recommendation will be available for immediate download within your account. We will also mail you an embossed version and photo ID card the same day; they should arrive within 3-5 business days.
You must be 18 years of age or older to use HelloMD. Contrary to popular belief, CA laws do not require you to be a CA resident, nor have a CA ID to obtain a CA medical marijuana recommendation. As long as you are physically in CA at the time of your doctor's consultation, you are eligible to use our service and to obtain a cannabis card.
If you have any difficulties along the way, please use the live chat feature (bubble at bottom of screen) to obtain assistance from our customer support team.

In California you can go on HelloMD and see one of our physicians. If you had been seen before at our site, the physician will have your old records and the reason that you had for your recommendation. If not they will go over your medical history and reason you are requesting your recommendation and perform your evaluation then. The cost for either is the same.

Answer - HelloMD contributing writer
Renewing your card can be a really simple process, but it varies by state, so it is best to check for specific information where you live. Some places allow for renewal online while others require an in-person visit to the site you obtained your original card or allows a different doctor who also participates in the program to renew for you. For details, it's best to look up the regulations and requirements in your state.
